Pros

fun atmosphere with co-workers and gratis is an incentive, and there is always something new

Cons

high turnover rates due to inadequate district managers having bad lack of judgment on who they hire for store managers, not paid well, micro management, no work life balance, and you must ass kiss and be fake to move up, hard work is extremely overlooked, also lots of shady payroll issues.....maybe that's why there is always law suits??

Pros

the co-workers, many of the clients, learning about products.

Cons

Management is in complete chaos and everyone suffers as a result. Hours are skimpy, yet they are always hiring. There is no regular schedule or reliable hours. They are defensive about their inadequicies so belittle the cast members. They aren't honest about what to expect. Their business model is short-sighted and relies on sacrificing ethical labor practices for the bottom line. In my view, the business would thrive more with a talented and loyal team.

Pros

Free samples and playing with makeup and skincare. A few team members were also nice.

Cons

At orientation, trainers were cheerleaders, saying how FUN it is to work at Sephora, not brain surgery, how LUCKY to not work on commission,GREAT to be honest with our sales. I was hired to work 32-40 hrs per week. REALITY was the first thing you hear on sales floor is the $$ goal for the day then atmosphere feels really intense with the pressure of meeting that goal. Shifta re "On Cal" which means that if goal is made you get to work a 8 hour shift if not,you get sent home with a 4 or 5 hour shift. Who can live on that!!?? No practical training, snapped at by managers for making mistakes as a new hire with no training. All this in my first week of employment. I do not appreciate being spoken to like a wayward child when I am trying to learn thousands of products and help my customers, I REALLY am all about customer service. I feel that the orientation was all half truths. i was never told that I would not be REALLY scheduled full time and believe me, the pressure to sell sell sell is definitely there. One manager gave me a "challenge" to sell $500 of merchandise in 20 minutes!!!! Craziness!!!!
