Pros

Sears is a great place to work with reasonable compensation. Sears is truly a "team" environment at the store level. management works together to find everyday solutions to customer issues, merchandising and sales opportunity's. Although there are strict company standards to meet you are afforded enough leeway to personally impact sales trends.

Cons

long hours for management. lack of management training program. undefined expectations.

Pros

The store does give you the opportunity to advance. It lets one gain valuable experience with customer service, as well diving into the somewhat specific areas of that customer service experience. There is an opportunity for a healthy pay check. If you are entry-level, you are just going to be paid minium wage on an hourly basis. Depending on your needs - family, medical, etc., - if these are not great, it is a start. The people who hire you are certainly professional and give you the chance to let them know just why you should be employed by the company.

Cons

You do not get alot of training and are somewhat just thrown into the pool, so to speak, especially if you have no experience and are just entering the retail world. This of course can teach you to meet the challenges that this presents to you in your day to day work enviroment, but with virtually no training needs met there is a decrease, through no fault of your own, in the quality of customer service. In my experience, the guy on the floor in my department just above me was not inclined to offer much help at all. It makes for a discouraging enviroment.
