Do not work at Sears as an hourly associate!

Pros

Good associate discount 20% off apparel even clearance and sale merchandise. 10%off everything else. They will work with you on your availability.

Cons

Low pay $6.90 an hour, current freeze on wages. Must be able to get customers to sign credit card applications. Required to meet quotas on credit card applications or your hours will suffer. If you do not get very many credit apps they will eventually take you off schedule altogether. Too many longtimers that create a hostile environment and scare off new employees. They treat new hires like they have the plague.

Pros

I like that I am allowed to work independently sometimes. I'm given a project and I am allowed to come up with my own way of doing the project. It allows for creativity on my part, which is nice.

Cons

Sometimes there aren't enough people to work because we're only given so many hours. At times there is just so much to do, and a deadline is approaching, and I'm having to do the work of two people. I also don't like it that there are no opportunities to get in some overtime. We're only allowed to work 40 hours a week, but it's usually closer to 30 hours. Rarely do we get any more than that.

Good location. Flexible hour. If you have good relationship with your boss you have no need to work much, have good opportunities, lots of training courses each year.

Cons

poor management, opportunities will be given to the one with good relationship. If you have no connection within the management you will be difficult to get anything such as training, salary increase...etc.
