Thank you for your feedback, however we are very concerned to hear of the less positive comments in this review and the experiences that you’ve had. At Sanctuary Group we take all feedback seriously and value the effort our employees go to to provide it. We are passionate about the values which form the foundations of our business and strive to ensure all employees operate according to these values, at all times. On occasions it may be felt that a colleague has not met these standards and as you would expect, we have a full suite of policies and procedures to address these concerns, which include our Grievance Policy, and our Bullying and Harassment policy. You can rest assured that all of our managers are required to attend mandatory management specific training courses. We would welcome the opportunity to meet or chat with you as a current member of staff, to further understand your concerns and to turn things around for you. We would recommend that you gain support from Human Resources or from local or national Staff Council representatives as soon as possible.

Pros

Salary competitive , clean office environment. I believe staff at at Worcester and Banbury are generally reasonably happy. A lot depends on where you work.

Cons

Unsupportive management who subtly bully and are totally inflexible clearly enjoying themselves. Whole system that is frustrating because it is not fit for purpose. Trying to get anything slightly out of the ordinary done is extremely difficult as no one wants to help or take responsibility. If you work in Housing be prepared to have tenants constantly asking you how you can work for Sanctuary and complaining (with justification) about their level or service. However it is very hard to make any improvements on their behalf. Beware new employees- no sick pay for first two years (this is not made clear). No work flexibility, no working from home, constant changes without any clear or logical objective. Often changes are very costly and don’t work in practice. One of the mantras of this organisation is integrity but in reality there isn’t any!

Thank you for your review of your current employment with Sanctuary and I am sorry to hear some of your feedback. Sanctuary takes all staff concerns seriously and when staff do have concerns, we would encourage them to discuss them. Should these involve your direct line manager then we would encourage you to speak to an appropriate senior manager or local HR Business Partner in order for this to be looked into where necessary. We also have an established staff council, with local trained staff council representatives who are another avenue of support for staff. Sanctuary encourages staff to submit ideas to help improve the business and these are reviewed on a monthly basis. We would welcome you to submit any improvement ideas that you may have for consideration and have published examples of where ideas have been progressed which are published on our internal SOLIS pages. During all initial interviews any manager will happily answer any questions that are raised and will provide full and honest information regarding contracted terms and conditions, if this information is important to the interviewee, unfortunately we cannot discuss all terms and conditions within each interview but will never not answer questions that are asked. In addition we have a Flexible Working policy and all employees are able to apply. As a current employee we would encourage you to make contact with your local HR Business Partner to discuss your feedback in more detail.

Family friendly working? What a joke. Plus so sick pay!

Pros

Sanctuary pay a fair wage.

Cons

I was accepted the role, handed in my notice and then when the contract arrived, after id left my previous employer due to using up my remaining annual leave only to find there is no sick pay for 2 YEARS! this was never mentioned at the interview or with the job specification. Sanctuary have the audacity to cite Enhanced sick pay once you have completed qualifying service which in no way equates to no sick pay what so ever for 2 years service! This is utterly non negotiable and no room for discretion. When you are the main provider in a household this can have a devistating impact on your familys survival. Still i guess they need all the money they can to pay the chief exec £340,000 a Year! There is absolutely no room for family friendly or flexible working. You work the hours they tell you, take a whole hour lunch break, no negotiation and should you dare to need a drs appointment or any time out of your day, forget it. Not only will you be made to feel inadequate and your commitment to your role is questioned.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and I’m sorry that you feel this way. Our terms and conditions are benchmarked against other similar organisations and, while we understand your view, they are in line with best practice nationally. All employees are eligible to apply for flexible working and we will always accommodate requests if we are able to. If you would like to talk about this further, please contact your HR business partner.
