Pros

You're doing good things that make you feel good and serving people that are underserved in the community.

Cons

Expectations are that you are on call 24/7- even if you are not directly helping clients. You are expected to complete everything outstanding every day regardless of the number of hours it would take. I worked over 90 hours each week in my last two weeks with the company.

We appreciate your kind words about our company mission – we strive to be the best support agency each and every day - without sacrificing service level and attention to our clients. Occasionally this does require commitment that stretches beyond a typical 40-hour work week, however this is not the norm. Our management have an open-door policy and welcome feedback, both positive and constructive. If you have any constructive, specific feedback to share we would welcome your feedback - please send an email to feedback@samplesupports.com.

Great Company, but less than great place to work.

Pros

There were many pros to working for Sample Supports- the clients being the biggest pro. The other pros were good pay, benefits, and opportunity for a change of pace each day. If I could rate the company itself I would give them 5 stars, because what they do is inspiring and amazing.

Cons

I would still be a Sample Supports if it were not for witnessing the disrespect by supervisors in regards to the well-being of their employees. Employees are often scheduled up to 60 hour work weeks without consent. Schedules are posted last minute and are changed multiple times throughout the week without any conversation or consent. There were several times that I worked my personal life around my schedule, only to have my day off be filled in with a shift without consent. Although this may be acceptable to some employees, I feel it shows a lack of regard for the work/life balance and well-being of employees. There were also several instances where supervisors did not follow in action with a conversation that was held in person. There is extremely high-turnover in the direct support department, and regardless of what others say this is not because of the job, but the unethical managing practices. People don't leave their jobs, they leave their bosses. I'm sure other areas of the company hold a much different atmosphere and are probably great areas to work.

Thank you for the kind words about the company. The problems you experienced with scheduling sound frustrating - it is unfortunate you felt less valued due to scheduling issues. If there is anything specific you want to bring up we are happy to hear it. Go ahead and email feedback@samplesupports.com and it will go straight to the CEO so we as an agency can continue to improve our services. Thanks for the review!

Pros

Partnerships with companies like Avery Brewing Company Fellow job coaches are awesome

Cons

1. MANAGEMENT IS CLUELESS, get people who will actually proactively help instead of covering their own tails and hiding behind the employee handbook. 2. Bait and switching jobs on people is appallingly immoral, unethical, and flat out poor business practices. Freshly out of college I applied for Job Coach, interviewed for job coach, signed paperwork to accept the title of job coach, only for the 2nd day of work to have my job changed to day program, which is glorified babysitting adults. Not what I signed up for, and when I complained the response I got was "Well we need help with day program, when we have more people hired we'll SEE if you can get moved back to job coach." Not my problem you didnt hire enough people, your lack of planning does not constitute you totally jerking me around. After they refused to put me back in the position I applied for, interviewed for, and signed paperwork for, I walked out and quit that same day. 3. You use your car, your cell phone plan, your data - they will pay you $25 a month towards your phone bill you're using your GPS and minutes for, except when you overdo your data, it costs more than $25 to pay off, so you're working for a loss already 5. 1 person per 5 adults, while driving, using your phone, and managing the car full of people. Not only is constantly texting/using your phone while driving illegal, if my child was under the care of Sample Supports, I'd be suing for endangerment. 6. Training is never close, starts at 8AM, when they aren't even ready then. If I have to drive an hour and a half to training only to sit around and watch videos I can access at home, you're already wasting people's time and they haven't even been in the field yet.
