Pros

Free products is the only good thing I can think of!!!

Cons

1. Very very low pay 2. No training 3. Long hours... must work 45 , but never enough staff so worked at least 6 doubles a week. 4. Horrible District Managers , if u have a question good luck getting getting any help. 5. No matter what you do for the little staff you have they are never happy and think the world revolves around them ! Alls they wanna do is stand around on there phones or start drama. The only staff that will work for the pay are young kids with no work ethics and DM won’t help staff. 6. No structure they change “ Brand Standards “ every few months because they aren’t making the NUMBERS they want. 7. Hours for staff must me under 29 hours but in reality we’re only allowed to schedule them for under 15 and it’s usually around 10 hours or less because they give very low payroll hours and the managers hours use up more then half of the hours and they want 5 part time employees in love volume stores. 8. The staff I had loved drama and talked about all the other staff behind each others back causing nothing but more drama. 9. Staff never shows up lol some even had there daddies call them in sick .... were talking 20 year olds. 10. Must do the same thing wrong 3 times in 30 days to have an employee removed from ur staff. 11. Never receive my 6 month raise. 12. After I left they never paid me in my last check for my unused vacation pay, was over 88 hours. I had to call HR they assured me I would have it within 2 weeks after 3 more weeks I contacted a lawyer who told me because it wasn’t in my last check I was owed 3x the amount so I called HR back and a week later I finally got my check times 3 !!! But if u don’t call they won’t put in for it. 13. Staff will call HR for every little thing example if u can’t give them one of the 30 days off they request or if you write them up.... they are never in the wrong in their opinion! But because u did ur job u get to deal with HR all the time. hR usually has ur back after u explain what happened but it’s still a pain in the butt because some grown employees ( most of them ) act like 2 year old. 14. They will use and abuse you til u can’t stand no more and when u let them know that they will tell you oh well if you don’t like it you can leave. So pretty much you are not valued and everyone Is replaceable . 15. New rules to cut down on payroll.... Monday - Thursday closer must close alone! Such a bad idea for safety but just Incase u can keep ur cell phone at the register so you can call the police if you get robbed. 16. Was always alone so once in a great while I got a break. Or I was always training new employees so I couldn’t take breaks. Long 11 and 12 hours days and no break really stinks. 17... I could keep going on and on but my fingers hurt from typing. With that being said I would work anywhere over Sally Beauty lol McDonalds pays more for starters!!!

Pros

The pay is on it's way to being decent

Cons

The hours for lower level employees just isn't enough to live on, and with a rotating schedule and the requirement to have an open schedule to get the job makes it even harder to find another job to help supplement income. Managing is a complete mess there is never a clear idea of what's going on at any given time. Several important parts of operation will not work or not arrive without notice or communication. In my store we are an all female staff that is made to have only one person close for five out of seven days of the week.

Pros

Easy, my store was insanely slow and the management was pretty lax for the most part. Definitely a good job straight out of high school or for the summer. I think they'll pay for you to go to beauty school if you want, which is cool.

Cons

While lax management meant you could mess around some and the slow pace meant that after you had all your tasks done you could chill in between customers, this also meant that there was very little training, structure and ultimately you wouldn't achieve very much as an individual or store. It seems like a dream until you realize you're bored out of your skull after 3 months of doing pretty much nothing. Customers can be nice but are primarily middle aged women who are incredibly rude, and will bring their children only to not control them and let them wreck the store. They will also not hire you if you are still in high school, under 18, or if you do not have an open schedule. That being said they also will not hire you to work over 30 hours a week, which, at minimum wage isn't enough to live on or do much with. It's like they want fully trained stylists to come work for them for less hours and less pay. Additionally the managers outside our store and our district manager are incredibly gossipy and catty, and if you are not one of their favorites you can pretty much guarantee that you wont get any help from them. There was one night last year where people were concerned about snow and weather and I had to close the store alone because our district manager turned off her phone and I couldn't get a hold of her to close the store early so I wouldn't be caught in a dangerous situation! Honestly she played favorites more than anyone in the district and I think she decided pretty early that our store didn't fit those specifications so we never got help from her, she would only drop by every three months or so to tell us what we were doing wrong. You can also kiss moving up in this company goodbye. By eliminating full time hours/workers, they got rid of their assistant manager position. You could move up to manager, but managers are payed incredibly little for the amount of responsibility they had to take on. And once you become manager there is a very little chance of being moved up to district manager as most district managers stay in that position for a very long time. You really have to live and breath this company in order to make incremental movements up the ladder (ultimately not worth it in my opinion, you'll make a lot more money actually becoming a stylist). Aside from management, if your team is lazy you may be the only one really putting in work which also sucks. There were several times where I would be the only one doing a store reset or working on a project, while also doing the most of the customer service because I was the only one who actually tried to be nice or helpful!
