Pros

Easy, my store was insanely slow and the management was pretty lax for the most part. Definitely a good job straight out of high school or for the summer. I think they'll pay for you to go to beauty school if you want, which is cool.

Cons

While lax management meant you could mess around some and the slow pace meant that after you had all your tasks done you could chill in between customers, this also meant that there was very little training, structure and ultimately you wouldn't achieve very much as an individual or store. It seems like a dream until you realize you're bored out of your skull after 3 months of doing pretty much nothing. Customers can be nice but are primarily middle aged women who are incredibly rude, and will bring their children only to not control them and let them wreck the store. They will also not hire you if you are still in high school, under 18, or if you do not have an open schedule. That being said they also will not hire you to work over 30 hours a week, which, at minimum wage isn't enough to live on or do much with. It's like they want fully trained stylists to come work for them for less hours and less pay. Additionally the managers outside our store and our district manager are incredibly gossipy and catty, and if you are not one of their favorites you can pretty much guarantee that you wont get any help from them. There was one night last year where people were concerned about snow and weather and I had to close the store alone because our district manager turned off her phone and I couldn't get a hold of her to close the store early so I wouldn't be caught in a dangerous situation! Honestly she played favorites more than anyone in the district and I think she decided pretty early that our store didn't fit those specifications so we never got help from her, she would only drop by every three months or so to tell us what we were doing wrong. You can also kiss moving up in this company goodbye. By eliminating full time hours/workers, they got rid of their assistant manager position. You could move up to manager, but managers are payed incredibly little for the amount of responsibility they had to take on. And once you become manager there is a very little chance of being moved up to district manager as most district managers stay in that position for a very long time. You really have to live and breath this company in order to make incremental movements up the ladder (ultimately not worth it in my opinion, you'll make a lot more money actually becoming a stylist). Aside from management, if your team is lazy you may be the only one really putting in work which also sucks. There were several times where I would be the only one doing a store reset or working on a project, while also doing the most of the customer service because I was the only one who actually tried to be nice or helpful!
