Pros

Good place to work - many employees are able to work from home. Salary and benefits are good.

Cons

Very political upper management. If you aren't in "the club" you could be laid off should they need to reduce the workforce regardless of your tenure or skills. Technology is good but releases are expensive and take too long to release.

Pros

Got to see the world. Great co-workers and working with great airline customers.

Cons

Management out of touch. Lack in providing training to new hire employees or to existing employees. Constant change in management and new supervisors. Keep hiring new staff who don't have the industry knowledge and more focused on whether the new hire has an MBA. Few if any staff meetings or ongoing performance reviews until after the actual performance review occurs and then issues put into the personnel file that cannot be contested or removed.

Pros

Great products, great work atmosphere, mostly well-managed, clean and orderly work environment, salaries a bit above the average in this area (Montevideo UY), very positive and friendly workforce, good training programs, wonderful place to learn and acquire new skills. Sabre is still one of the best employers in the area, and working at Sabre is great for adding to the CV.

Cons

Horrible location very far from where most educated middle-class people in the city live (Pocitos, Parque Rodó, etc.), far from the Centre, far from the University. There are major errors in communication with employees at critical times, failure to understand the local culture. Failure to make simple gestures to employees, like organizing transportation on May 1 and during bus strikes when people are worried about getting home from work and there are no or few buses. Our culture is more friendly and polite than American culture in general and not openly critical, but this doesn't mean that people are satisfied with their situation. Many very bright and capable people left the company when a Sabre customer opened a call centre in a more central location. Many of those people were furious with Sabre for delaying an increase in salary while they negotiated with the wage council. Sabre lost many excellent employees.
