Challenging!

Pros

The best part of working at River island is that if you are in it for a career it's a good place to work yourself up. You'll learn a lot and there are possibilities to work yourself up quite quickly!

Cons

Sometimes the company expectations are to high. There are procedures that are meant to be actioned on a daily basis that just aren't realistic. Also, before making it to a manager position, the pay is not good enough for the amount of work that you do. I also think that there are to many 8 hours or 16 hours contracts and not enough 20 hours- full time contracts.

Pros

Fellow team members, busy store (Oxford Circus) so time generally went quickly

Cons

No investment in employees whatsoever Back of house area for staff was inadequate Managers talked down to staff and would leave you on the same department for 4 hours The way senior managers talked to junior managers was disgusting too and they would do it in view of everyone Unsurprisingly turnover of staff was ridiculous Only company benefits was £10 jeans and staff discount. Quite frankly the worst company I have ever worked for

Pros

Workers seem to have close relationships and it feels like a family.

Cons

The work you're made to do during sales is ridiculous. They always under-hire which means a lot more work for you and only a pay of 6.30 an hour.
