It is important to share my experience because other people may fall into the same trap. It is such an amazing company, but the 'Shopfitting department' is extremely toxic and horrible. This department consists of the following teams: Buying & Procurement, Store Maintenance, Store Design, and Project Management. Each team is riddled with its issues - bullying is a common denominator.
The department is infamous for its office politics. It is a known issue, and even HR is fully aware, but no one cares to make any changes. The staff is divided by jealousy, animosity, and distrust.
There was a lot of drama, accompanied by political incorrectness and unprofessionalism. Due to favoritism and nepotism, this behaviour was always overlooked. For such a great clothing brand that represents so much talent and diversity - this department really taints the company's image.
There could be SO much opportunity for growth here, but there's a resistance to change and innovation - THIS is what will hold the company back. Instead of focusing on what to change today, focus on the future!
Value your employee's that work so hard to keep these stores looking great - not on who you like the most based on the social hierarchy. Constant condescension is rife within this department from the top down - consequently, this attitude is mirrored by all of the team managers.
Personal appraisals are non-existent, which keeps staff from reaching their true potential, and managers aren't trained to guide and mentor the employees. So, you are stuck with managers who lack basic social and managerial skills.
If you're aloof and cold, you'll fit right in here. But if you're genuine and work hard, beware. This department will drain all of your motivation and passion out of you. As a former employee here, I would hate to see other people experience some of the unforgivable things I've seen.
Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg. There's so much more to say, but I will leave it here. It has taken a lot for me to announce this, but I would be doing a grave disservice to others by remaining quiet.
Often when people read these reviews, they think - "Oh, that is just a single person's experience." However, I can assure you that the majority of employees in this department would strongly agree.
THINGS MUST CHANGE - TIME'S UP!
