Pros

Good pay, friendly staff to work with for the most part, opportunity to spend your hard earned money world wide with Ritz and Marriott properties. Company has a good training program that makes you feel like your number 1 until you actually see how things are run behind the sense.

Cons

Management cares only about their bottom line, forget the employees that make it happen management treats them like they are worthless. Little to no room to grow or move up unless your willing to kiss butt. HR is horrible at doing their job, they only care about covering up for managers mistakes. Long hours, no appreciation for staffs hard work, crappy staff meals you have to pay for, favoritism from manager to get preference. shifted blame, no one owns or take responsibility.

Pros

Honestly... there are no pros that I can think of. It's nice being able to stay at Marriott hotels for cheap... but the availability is extremely limited as well as the number of quality property accessible to Marriott employees on vacation. The company name carries a lot of weight but the majority of employees I worked with were nothing more than amateurs. All of the talent was on the way out the door when I arrived. Literally, on my first day on the job out of orientation, two of my superiors told that I should start looking for a new place to work. The people who told me this were the only people I ever grew to respect at the company and they quit or transferred long before I had the chance to do so.

Cons

Compensation far below industry standard. Terrible work/life balance. Company culture designed to brainwash employees. General lack of intelligence in upper level management. Severe retardation in middle level management. Crumbling brand image.

Pros

The Ritz-Carlton is known for luxury and quality and it is rewarding to be part of creating that legacy for your guests to enjoy.

Cons

Perhaps the largest disappointment was the pay was flat for all hourly workers. What I mean by this is every position has a flat pay and regardless if you just started yesterday or if you've been doing this position for 20 years - you are making the same, exact amount. There are no merit raises - the only raises were cost of living raises so if there was a cost of living raise then everyone who did your same position would also be raised to that new level.
