Pros

Beautiful surroundings. The guests, for the most part, are lovely and great to know. Complimentary food and beverage during a shift. Complimentary parking. Some really great employees who are hardworking, authentic and not caught up in the drama.

Cons

Very poor culture. Departments work in silos with zero collaboration. Crossover teamwork, leadership, opinions or ideas are taken as a threat instead of welcomed and entertained. Some of the most unprofessional and rude employees reside in human resources - of all places. There are double standards galore and age discrimination taking place. The problems are not with the individual contributors (the worker-bees who do everything) but with supervisors and management. Such a shame.

Pros

pay and benefits are okay. Vacation time is good IF you get it. Since the time you earn is "un-vested" , if you leave in the year your earning it you don't get paid for it.

Cons

about everything else. Run by immature narcissists. Don't count on any time to yourself, the Supervisor I had was contently calling or texting me on my day off, volunteering me for OT without seeing if I could even work, changing my shift and days off without caring if I had plans and without asking. HE , however, you could never reach on his day off and contently volunteered for additional shifts, then deciding at the last minute he didn't want to work, sticking someone else with his shifts. The Director would constantly cover up his mistakes and refuse to take any action against him. Talks a good game with culture and values while having none.

Terrible Company to Work For

Pros

None whatsoever. While the service industry in general sucks, the Ritz Carlton/Marriott sucks even more. Stay as far away as you can from this industry and company. You would be better off flipping burgers at McDonalds.

Cons

Long irregular hours, low pay, nasty and demanding supervisors, back stabbing co-workers who get rewarded by management for being rats/snitches, no personal life, health care plan is terrible-it's like having no health coverage at all. Incredible turnover rate-if you last more than 6 months it's a miracle. And those are the positives of this company.
