Pros

the values (see also cons) large assortment of product mid price point attainable luxury

Cons

RH management uses the RH “values & ethics” to do things that are unethical (such as discrimination). The values are rhetoric. It is dangerous when leadership can manipulate the values to their benefit. “They are not a values match” is a great way to marginalize people versus solve systemic problems.

Pros

Majority of the people are wonderful

Cons

Its a cult with the "values" being a complete sham. The gallery leader is a terrible person who gets her jollies from being mean to people. Other leaders are nice enough, but they're all completely out of touch with the fact that almost everyone currently employed there absolutely hates their job. Its specifically related to the gallery leader who is basically the buildings cancer. Its retail, don't let the design stuff fool you, you're signing up for retail. Hours are retail, schedule is retail, working weekends etc. They preach design and not selling, yet non stop talk about the numbers. Zero communication within the company and the people on the salesfloor are often left to clean up a mess they didn't even create. Half the time there is no communication within the same store. Morning values meeting do nothing more than deflate the team. Nobody wants to be there and its a gigantic waste of half an hour. They constantly ask you to do more and more and never compensate you. They would rather add more to your plate and not promote you (so they don't have to pay you more). Those working on the salesfloor are overworked. All of that hard work doesn't even lead to a bonus, unless you are a leader. So the leader does zero work, but get a bonus when a "designer" brings in more sales. The interview process is a joke. You could be in for anywhere from 5-10 interviews and not even get hired. You have to BS your way through talking to a leader. Just say what you think they want to hear because its all about the stupid values. Soon after the honeymoon period you will start to dread coming to work. The days when the gallery leader is off are the only semi good ones you'll experience. MICRO MANAGING EVERYTHING. You also have to pay to park while the leadership team gets park at the CUSTOMER parking lot for free. Gallery leader plays favorites, suck up more and get on her good side. Also shows racist tendencies. Once you serve no purpose to her, you'll be forgotten. If she doesn't like you, you'll end up being her punching bag and get "feedback" about every single little thing you do or don't do. People's entire personality have changed because they are so miserable.

Pros

RH has well-designed, beautiful product. Good place to learn some skills for a short period of time. Health benefits are good.

Cons

I would not recommend working for RH at the gallery level. The environment is extremely unhealthy by the way people are managed. The turnover is very high. The culture is very cult-like. They constantly repeat their "values" that they do not follow and instead use them to dismiss concerns. There is no real accessible HR department. If you have concerns, it is practically impossible to voice them professionally or privately. There is no 401K match and they give most people tiny raises and rarely bonuses - if ever. It is a retail environment, not a design firm with little room to grow as a designer. You cannot purse certification, and in many ways it feels like a set back to work for RH too long.
