Pros

It is amazing to see what it takes to get a patient sample tested and the results sent to the patient's doctor. The people working in the labs are hard working and really care about getting accurate patient test results out the door BY 8 AM THE NEXT MORNING! The company provides extensive training to its employees and has a fairly generous benefits. At the management levels, the benefits are really good. The bonus structure is very generous. The company does do a lot to celebrate the diversity of its workforce. There are usually monthly celebrations recognizing employees of every nationality with some really great food!

Cons

You have to be a type A personality to succeed here. People who are agressive and like to schmooze tend to get promoted. At the management levels, workaholics are everywhere and they tend to be rewarded. There is also a huge amount of snobbery among the managers and doctors. Med Techs are treated with little respect by managers and tend to be regarded as interchangeable pairs of hands. Communication between corporate and the business units is lousy. The result of this is that corporate initiatives are poorly executed. Management also tends to be penny wise and pound foolish. This leads to many short sighted decisions.

Pros

Great benefits and our sales management team was wonderful. Easy to communicate concerns and fun to work for. Great training program for those emerging into medical sales.

Cons

The company was great at coming up with new ideas-- yet could never execute them! It was as though they were so eager to initiate the ideas, that they were not fully thought out resulting in a big flop! This position went from what was supposed to be a sales position to baby sitting and hand holding a bunch of accounts. Each day started and ended with putting out the multitude of "fires" caused by billing and servicing issues. Difficult to get away from the job, since most account managers have home offices and cell phones that act as a GPS tracking device for rep-client relationships.

Pros

The benefits at Quest Diagnostics are very good. They let you balance work and personal life.

Cons

The CEO doesnt have a clue about the business. Senior Leadership is not very good and they don't work well together. Middle Management doesn't work well together. There are too many major initiatives going on at once and that pulls employees in too many directions. There aren't common goals between the different organization within the company. There is a major lack of respect for employees. The HR department is one of the worse and is very uninformed. But, despite it all, the employees are very dedicated to their jobs and getting the job done.
