Pros

PTO, Competitive Pay for new employees.

Cons

Shareholder and executive focused. Execs tout that the market is under pressure to justify a 2% merit last year for everyone, and no merit increase at all this year. Somehow they find a way to hit the corporate target incentive and execs bonuses were all above target and they took 10% increases in pay last year.

Pros

Brilliant CEO. Working on the front lines of health systems work with clients across the nation in a well-respected company. Challenging and fast-paced work environment. Good benefits and good employee reward and recognition program. Opportunity to work with very nice colleagues who are very talented from across the country.

Cons

There is a mismatch between the company's stated values and the kinds of behaviours that are tolerated by senior leaders. Most members of executive leadership came from consulting and apply the consulting mindset to the company as a whole (e.g. flying by the seats of their pants and approaching every activity as if it is a new consulting project that requires a new way of doing things). That is fine for some parts of the business, but much of the work needs discipline and structure and a commitment to developing some deep routine operational structures. In addition, executive leadership has a high tolerance for bad behavior, bordering on abusive, from senior leaders. The latter is one example of the values mismatch -- the CEO prides herself on being employee-focused and invested in creating a positive culture. But then she tolerates incredibly unprofessional (and unproductive) behaviours from her leadership team. This is incredibly demoralizing for the staff, many of whom are expected to be available 24-7-365.
