Pros
The ideals of Philz Coffee attract great employees. How they portray their "values" (realistically, lack there of) is an attractive feature this company provides to new hires and fresh applicants. Unfortunately this seems to all change very quickly into employment.
Cons
Philz Coffee does not have their priorities straight. They have grown way too fast and way too blind. Entirely profit focused at the expense of their employees. Management is not trained to handle miscommunication or general employee relation issues. When the concern is made obvious to HR, heads were turned and emails were ignored. I've witnessed sexual harassment, racial inequalities, a false support for the LGBTQ community and countless silencing tactics. They lure in some of the most hard working and ethical employees I've ever worked with. Then, after you're in, with the illusion of comfort, the tone changes and suddenly your cares and concerns seem to be disappearing into thin air with every communication. I've seen employees used and abused at Philz. People missing lunches because "you're too good at mobil, we need you on". Management requesting that you take all your breaks within two hours so you can stay on the floor consecutively for six. They seem to turn a blind eye towards the health, safety and support of their amazing staff. Is the greedy need for profit worth the expense of the incredibly hard workers you intensely manipulated to get in the door? For me, that answer is no. I cannot support a company that mutilates the cares of their hard working employees. Providing false promises and an illusion of a safe working environment, only to rip it out from under them at the slightest implication of growth or success. Philz, please use this time to gain some ethics, some morality and lessen up on your capitalistic greed.
