Philz mission is to better people's days, and this is embodied on a daily basis by the incredible people in their stores, home office, and coffee & distribution teams. Every person you talk to here has a heart to serve, which permeates throughout the culture. Philz is a place where you are empowered to be the best version of yourself, while recognizing your opportunities and working alongside a strong community that helps you grow. It is a crucial time in the growth of the company, and every person plays a key role in helping build something great.

Cons

Naturally, being a young, expanding company means there are growing pains. Communications do not always make it to the target audience, creating an occasional disconnect between stores and leadership. The path for growth may not always be laid out in the way some might expect, but you can forge your path here with a strong drive, voice, belief in the mission, and results! As others have mentioned, total comp & benefits package is not robust, though you would be hard-pressed to find someone coming to Philz because of the benefits package. I would anticipate that this would improve as we grow.

Thank you for your review! Our leadership team spent a lot of time in 2015 revamping our benefits offerings. We have made great strides towards providing a comprehensive package that we feel reflects our values and shows our appreciation and optimism in our team.

Great customer loyalty Baristas are great

Cons

High expectations, high standards, high energy. Low base pay- other cafes pay $3-$4 more per hour MORE and retain their baristas longer than Philz. High turn over rate. No incentive to do better except for managers keeping motivation. No culture building events, picnics, nothing. No employee outreach.

Pros

Training is professional, you learn every detail to be a perfect team player from the ground-up. Meeting everyone in town who comes in for coffee and chatting up clientele is it's own reward.

Cons

Burnout can happen easily. Low growth opportunities. Raises only on 6 month basis. Waking up at 5 AM means early bedtime so you get enough beauty rest.
