Pros

Slightly better than unemployment.

Cons

New pay scale. Commission for managers off total store sales. Have a "threshold" per week before anything is made. Threshold makes commission a joke.

Pros

Some co-workers are cool, not much more to add here

Cons

Senior management cut shop employees' hours when they don't get a bonus even though senior management make six figures a year guaranteed before any bonus. Senior management will not make any effort to talk to any mechanics about their thoughts and opinions or how the company can improve. There is ZERO employee appreciation for anyone that works in store on a daily basis. Stores are closed on only 2 holidays a year (Xmas, thanksgiving) and any PTO or floating holiday time that is not used by January 31st is lost, use it or lose it policy no matter what. Senior management needs to seriously be replaced, when employees lose the ability to provide for their families or pay their bill because senior management didn't get a bonus something has to change.

Pros

The amount of work depends greatly on the walk-in customers on a daily basis it varies greatly. Some days you will be very busy and some days you could be getting paid to clean up shop area or just stand around doing nothing.

Cons

Cons are that if you are entry level, the Mechanics making $34 hour (mechanic A) can get frustrated if they have to stop thier current job to "help" you out in areas such as learning the PepBoys equip. Such as the laser wheel balance machine and other equipment in the shop. I'm a fast learning and only have to be shown 1 time on most equipment. The more experienced mechanic is either nice to you and wants to help you learn all the equiptment or they are rude to you and treat you like you are bothering them.
