Started off so promising

Pros

ASE testing, full time work. When i first started, it went pretty well. The shop was properly staffed. We were pretty much guaranteed lunch breaks, staying late was never an issue because we actually felt appreciated enough to show some appreciation in return. The schedule was semi- flexible being fully staffed.

Cons

No opportunity for promotions, poor pay, poor annual evaluations, non-flexible schedule, poor communication, no stable management, lunch breaks were a luxury (if they happened at all), Short staffed , poor time management, did not feel appreciated. I was unfairly evaluated by one of the many managers my shop had over the span of 2 years, and therefore did not receive a raise until about 6 months after my first year. That was then used as leverage for why new management would not give me another raise at my 2 year mark. PTO was constantly a maybe, even if you put it in months prior, they would attempt to cancel your PTO days before, if not THE day before. Occasionally there would be a good manager, but upper management is so hard on them that they leave. I was promised the opportunity to move up and was lead on for months about the apprenticeship program without hearing more than "we will look into it". There is quite a bit of what i would consider bullying and harassment in the work environment as well. Customers pretty much always get their way by crying and making a scene about everything, and then you have to eat the productivity and do the work for practically free. The teamwork went down to Zero once they started enforcing the GSTs to have high productivity, and instigated threats in serious situations. It also seems like they care about numbers more than safety, or the happiness of their employees. Constantly forced to work in 100+ degree heat without breaks just so the people up front can make their numbers look better, all while marking the wrong people on jobs. I could keep going, unfortunately. But I will end it there

Pros

Commission is not bad if you hustle.

Cons

The cons are everything else. First I was hired as part-time and expected to work full time hours without employee benefits. Promised a promotion and the position I was going for was filled and was never even notified by management. The company goes through service managers faster than some people tend to change their oil. Worked overtime and through lunches most days due to being understaffed, yet when asking for vacation days, consistently getting denied. Company pays very little so if you understand cars in any way you will be considered over qualified and expected to work harder because you understand what the customer needs. Forced to sell products to customers that have no benefit to their vehicle and expected to lie to them for pennies on commission. Constantly having to double check technicians recommendations to ensure that they are not recommending parts that are not needed.
