Pros
In a word: Stability. It's a solid business and provides a stable environment, even in times of economic turbulence. Salaries are good, as are benefits.
Cons
Politics are terrible. Management is clueless, selfish and decisions are often made to get the next step up the ladder with little regard for long or even mid term consequences. Siloing and micromanaging are severe and detrimental, accountability is very poor.
