Pros

- Opendoor has been able to grow fairly seamlessly and extremely fast. It has been fun to see our teams expand so much while keeping the culture alive. - Managers are good at making everyone feel like they make an impact, no matter their job title. - While everyone works very hard, there is enough flexibility to provide work life balance (no strict working hours at SF office) and most teams allow WFH as needed. - The hiring bar is HIGH which makes for some really great teams with some really smart people.

Cons

- Not a negative thing, but given we're hiring so many managers right now, there is a chance great people won't have the opportunity to level up as quickly as they want to. I have faith we can figure that out though!

Pros

Opendoor is a great organization to be apart of and I look forward to coming to work everyday. It is evident that everyone cares a lot about our mission to "empower everyone with the freedom to move". The environment is one of of the best parts of working here. It is open and inclusive. The real estate transaction is a complicated process and it's amazing witness teamwork and collaboration across all departments everyday. Employees here are intelligent, compassionate, and supportive. Management is encouraging and caring. There is an abundance of internal growth potential and opportunity. New roles are constantly being created and we are growing so fast (50 markets by 2020!!) Promoting from within is encouraged and celebrated by leadership.

Cons

We are still figuring out our processes company wide to stay connected and consistent.

Not your average start-up, and that's a good thing.

Pros

I have worked at Opendoor (DFW market) for nearly a year, and it's my best working experience to date. This is my third start-up, and by far the most promising. Yes, we have the ping-pong table. Yes, we have the cold brew on tap. And yes, the perks are unbelievable. But that's not just it.... We also have the self-motivators, entrepreneurs, and business minds growing this into a powerhouse empire. We are actively putting structure, policies, and procedures in place — and working out the bugs that don't work. We pack a year in 3 months, and I am blown away by the company and each employee's personal growth. What keeps me? Easy — the freedom and limitless potential. You make your future here. It sounds corny, but it's a liberating grind, and we choose it each day. Rarely do I hear the word "no", and I have had the freedom to bring culture and operations ideas to life. Essentially, you decide how far you get to go here. I feel empowered by my coworkers and by C-level execs to conquer my goals and be my best, most innovative self. Plus, I am working with some of the most futuristic, innovative, creative, brilliant people of my lifetime. I feel inspired each day to be better, do better, produce better.

Cons

It is still a start-up. Like most, we are breathless every Friday afternoon from an action-packed grind. (But we have an in-office happy hour, so it isn't a terrible way to finish off the week.) I believe it's not a permanent status — just an effect of growing.
