Pros

Pay above average; company picnics; monthly birthday cake; great health insurance; GREAT people; like a 2nd family. Supportive & accessible HR. Company follows a Six-Sigma like operating system. Very generous PTO (you can purchase extra vacation days!) Excellent tuition reimbursement program. Annual employee survey where Otis takes feedback from its people and forms action plans to improve the culture- they then follow through with progress on the action plans. Job/skills training offered to employees. Senior management is engaged with employees of all levels and everyone from Ethics to HR are usually willing to lend an ear- that’s one of the best things about working for Otis is you know as an employee the company truly cares about its people and wants all to be positive and productive. If you are lucky enough to get in here, it’s a company that most will want to work at until they retire. Otis is big on developing talent and promoting from within as well.

Cons

Depending on your department, there can be many meetings daily (more than the norm)where often no decisions are made- this can be very frustrating. No clear expectations in some groups/departments; very loose guidelines on exactly what your responsibilities are. Again, depends on who you work for in terms of supervisor or manager.

Pros

Your week has Flexible days. Otis gives you some amazing opportunities to learn in many areas. They take the time to train you.

Cons

More commission opportunities else where. The environment in the office is less professional than what you would imagine for a company of this size. Fellow employees don’t treat each other like professionals.

Pros

- New challenges and surprises everyday

Cons

Misogyny environment re-enforced by senior management and HR and perpetuated at the local level. Company systems overall are out-dated (ex. DOS system still used) and managers that are severely behind in basic business technology knowledge (ex. managers who don’t even know how to electronically sign a document). Incentive plan is filled with penalties and caps. Sales reps have to negotiate and fight each quarter to get their full pay out – put in a defense position to negotiate against Sales Manager who is more interested in saving money to company than supporting reps and their payout. Sales and Regional Managers who do not understand the markets or clients in the regions which they cover. Customers are not put first – managers asking reps to remove customers from survey lists who will write poor reviews. Disconnected and misaligned goals for positions within cross functional teams creating poor work environment and, in turn, negative customer satisfaction.
