Pros

• The biggest pro was working with great and friendly people, other accounting specialists and administrative personnel, NOT the managers or senior management. • They pay for continuing education (MBA/Masters), BUT with restrictions – working a minimum years of service. • Opportunities to apply to internal positions in other locations in US and worldwide. Also, opportunities to apply to other United Technology companies (Hamilton Sunstrand, Sikorsky).

Cons

• Work Life Balance does not exist. Late Hours and Saturdays are required. No Flexibility. Trapped in your cubicle all day. There is no motivation to work here! No feeling of job satisfaction. • No training for newly hired people, instead you get an very outdated manual about the elevator industry and its accounting practices that puts you to sleep when you read it. There has been a history of numerous turnovers. It takes management a very long time to hire new people in open positions. • Managers do not communicate at all or maintain good working relations with their employees. They do not push back on extra projects from senior management that are a big waste of time and do not add value to the company. Also, managers do not allocate work/projects properly throughout the department but instead opt to do it themselves or forget about it. • Senior management and managers do not communicate or pass on vital information that is important for the accounting specialist to do their job. Salary information, such as delayed merit increases or promotions is found out by accident or through gossip. • This company is very big on being cost-efficient (CHEAP) and no frills. For example, you have to pay for that coin-operated machine cup of awful coffee that's in the kitchen. Garbage pail at your desk is emptied every other day. • Not all open positions in other office locations are posted on the job portal. If you apply for another position, your manager is notified immediately. • Finally, the benefits are the pits.

Lack of good Management

Pros

The base salary is pretty good. The job is pretty flexible and everyday is different.

Cons

-Management is basically nonexistent -No efficient training -Company culture is a joke You would think working for a very wealthy and old company like Otis, they would change the way they do things, but unfortunately that’s not the case. They are very old fashioned and not open to new ideas or input. Technology and people are changing/progressing and Otis is not. Their turnover rate is horrible from 1-1.5 years. This company cannot get their employees to stay and it’s due to the lack of management and engagement with its employees. During my time there I had no idea what my job or responsibilities were since my manager was gone 75% of the time I was there. No communication and very condescending. You work with very racist people who have no respect for women or minorities. Plenty of times you’ll have to hear co workers speak very badly and unprofessional about their customers. Customers are constantly getting ripped off by Otis’ products and I could not do that to customers. You had to work twice as hard on gaining the trust of customers when they already had a bad taste in their mouths from Otis. This was the absolutely worst decision I made and regret every last second I spent here.

Pros

Nice office, air con, free tea

Cons

I worked for Otis, well a subsidory of the company for over 5 years and in the time i was promised progression, i was promised a pay rise... Didnt get either. Management just look at their potential bonus for completing a job on time, this isnt handed downnto minions who help them reach their targets! Im my time there i must have saved the company over 10k a year by finding cheaper suppliers for parts and labour, yet all i received was a £200 gift card! Yea that eas nice but my manager was getting £3k minimum bonus per job! Avoid Otis, ELA Group, PDERS or whatever name they use. Unless you have a degree they wont progress you as they are all snobs and dont value the average hard worker
