Pros

Extremely stable, world-wide leader of the crop-input market. Main offices in Calgary, SK, Canada and Loveland, CO, USA. Both are incredibly nice campuses and great places to live. My familiarity is mostly with the USA location, however. Benefits are very good. The company is not shy about investing (in people, acquisitions, equipment, etc.) even when times are "tough". I'm not an "insider", but it feels like the company will continue to grow and grow.

Cons

Nutrien is a progressive company with intelligent, long-term thinking management. That said, recent shifts to incorporate a more modern workplace have resulted instead in wide-ranging feelings of disrespect and under appreciation. There was a time that, at a minimum, employees worked in cubicles that afforded at least a modest amount of separation from the distractions of their co-workers. Now, many people who used to have cubicles and some even full offices, now work at a desk, just a foot or two away from their co-workers, their germs, their cologne/perfume, their eating/chatting/hygiene habits, etc.. I understand this is an attempt to attract younger workers who may be more accustomed to "collaborative" work environments, but my observation suggests they prefer it simply because it allows them to waste time communally. The past five years have also seen a distinct re-enforcement of "the shareholder is who we care about" instead of the employee, with many jobs outsourced/over-seas with rumors of more to come.

Your comments around our position as a progressive company and an industry leader are appreciated. With regards to our office space, we recognize that every employee works differently, especially with five generations in the workplace for the first time ever. This means we must build a workspace that is modern yet accommodating for all styles. We believe that a modern workplace design is based on providing employees with more choice. In our Loveland office, employees can take advantage of their workstation, conference rooms, patio with WIFI, cafeteria and social spaces, including wellness centers and training rooms. We also recognize the need for audio privacy and lighting. In constructing the Loveland office, we implemented white noise and other sound absorbing fabrics and ceiling tiles, as well as large windows for natural light and landscape views. The future will involve embracing more technology and a higher focus on problem solving/innovating and collaborating, we believe the design of our newer office spaces will support this. You're encouraged to talk with your manager about alternative work arrangements as required. Thank you for your review.

Pros

I worked with some really great people. The benefits are stellar

Cons

They do not pay enough to keep their employees. Local competitors are making better wages than we are and we are working circles around our competitors.

Thank you for your review. We recognize that the Colorado job market is particularly competitive, and we continue to shape our Total Reward programs in order to attract and retain the best talent. One of the ways we do that is by offering a competitive benefits program, and we’re pleased to hear that you feel those benefits are stellar. Starting in 2020, changes to our Retirement Program will enhance provisions for retail employees. We have also started to look more closely at base pay this year to see where changes might be required. Nutrien recognizes the need to fully understand and respond to what is happening within local markets. We also agree that our retail employees work especially hard during busy seasons, and that this hard work should be celebrated. Local employees are encouraged to come together to organize events in recognition of successes big and small.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Was a fun place to work until focus on cost eliminate some perks and limited training and development opportunities.

Cons

Focus on reducing costs and manpower has made it impossible to get all the work done in a 40 hour week. Has also impacted employee morale.
