Pros

Benefits heavy company. Company car is nice as well as free gasoline but expectations are unrealistic - only sales people who "succeed" either cheat or work 50-60 hours a week.

Cons

Like high school - who ever people like get to hang around - a LOT of ineptitude here. Most of the time the software doesn't work or the hardware is faulty and they are constantly putting out untested things and then blaming the employees for not hitting their numbers Managers manage sales force and have no sales experience. They love to promote people into jobs they are unqualified for.

Pros

Good benefits and not a lot of micromanagement. Some of the technology that they use for their Connect platform is pretty good.

Cons

If you are a talent acquisition professional looking for an opportunity where your expertise and knowledge are put to good use, please walk the other way. I recruited for technologists for their Connect Tech platform and it was an eye opening experience to say the least. HR calls all the shots when it comes to recruiting even though they have zero experience actually recruiting. I left most of my meetings with HR shaking my head and exasperated due to their lack of knowledge of today's talent market, especially when it came to technology. I was told at one point that "we just want to hire smart people, don't worry about their skill set." HR is more concerned about tracking and filling out their status reports than dealing with the real issues of recruiting at Nielsen. The interview process for the hiring of Software Engineers (conjured up by HR) is lengthy and parts of which comprised of childhood riddles. Most SE candidates either were turned off by the interview process or took another offer before the interview process was completed because it took so long. It was more convenient for HR to blame recruiting for a lack of hires than to take a look at other issues like salaries not being competitive, a bad industry reputation, a lengthy and irrelevant vetting process, uncooperative hiring managers, etc. As a Talent Acquisition Partner, for the most part, I never really felt like a true partner with the business. HR was condescending + uncooperative and hiring managers had very little respect for recruiting and engaged with them begrudgingly in most cases. Other cons - low referral fees, poor technology choices when it came to recruiting tools and ATS.

Pros

Great colleagues, a lot of in-office perks, ability to work from home regularly

Cons

They willingly and knowingly have been paying women and POC less for doing the same job. My male counterpart's starting salary was $10,000 more a year than mine. I brought this up to management 1.5 years into working here and they did give me a raise BUT I'm still making less than his starting salary and he'll be getting a raise as well.
