Pros

The perks are genuinely excellent and your company car is going to be better attended to than just about anything you could afford with the salary. A lot of your co-workers end up being very interesting and kind people. There is a significant amount of flexibility in your hours but it's a two-way street- work flexible hours and then management starts assuming you're available any day if the week at any time.

Cons

Management has little respect for your days off management comes up with a lot of "fun" meetings like a talent show, lunch hour without work talk, and quietly canceling then at the last second. They are also prone to telling you "find a time that's open in my calendar and let's do a call" , not responding, and then asking you to get on calls with less than 10 minutes notice. Although the company was generous and somewhat logical when we switched to working from home (with completely different work, basically an interim position at another department) , returning to the field aspect after that period has been almost offensively stressful. They act like being understaffed is your problem to solve not management's. It's a bunch of peppy, high energy language but at the end of the day they just want you to feel guilty for situations completely out of your control. All in all this is a legitimate company with a lot of upsides, but the MR position isn't really viable more than a year or two. It is DESIGNED to wear people down and i find it almost comical how badly they have treated the effects Covid has had on how the appointments work out. If you're interviewing I actually do recommend trying it out, just go into it knowing that realistically this is meant to be a position you hold a couple of years, make what bonuses you can (it's not bad) , and eventually get out and you realize how little you ever rested.

Cons

- Very poor senior leadership who have surrounded themselves with professional grovellers instead of people who are good at what their job - Very cliquey and political - Frequently competing goals - Zero accountability from management who are experts at taking credit and passing on blame - Constantly under-resourced but still an expectation to just make it happen anyway - Lowest payer in the industry

Pros

Colleagues, diversity and inclusion, networking groups.

Cons

The company has had many organizational changes to the point where it's difficult to get anything done. Management is constantly changing the strategy and they are losing clients left and right ever since they lost Kroger (The # grocer in the U.S.) Technology challenges also make it difficult to work there as clients are constantly frustrated by the tech issues. Across Retail, Manufacturing, and the Practice Areas, they are continually reducing resources and putting more accounts on each person. I know one associate who had 40 accounts put on her. Yet they still expect these folks to drive value and build client relationships while juggling all the heavy account management work and fire drills across the clients. Company has transformed into a completely "sales oriented" culture. It's no longer about caring about clients but more about selling selling selling. Not about giving their teams the bandwidth and tools to drive or add value, even though they tell their associates to do that as well, on top of heavy delivery, account management work, a lot of red tape, and broken processes .Clients see that, and that is why they are all leaving Nielsen.
