Pros

Co-workers and teammates at NSC with a shared passion for safety.

Cons

If you are not a VP, forget equity or appropriate levels of respect and behavior. The CEO is a micromanager to the lowest level of company employees and departments. She has treated employees horribly. The destructive behaviors VPs exhibit toward employees is tolerated. You can not speak up and report anything. Transparency is smoke and mirrors. The pay bands are horrible. They treated employees horribly with furloughs, layoffs, and at-will firings. When there is a problem, someone's head will roll, except the VP, who should take the responsibility. A lot of scapegoats. If only the NSC board would dial in and quit believing that "covid" is the reason for poor employee surveys and morale. NSC has lost so many of its best employees who have decided to leave over the past few years. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

Pros

It's pretty relaxed and most of the job is independent. It's fun to do marketing campaigns with colleagues who know what digital marketing entails but for the most part, the other departments don't understand digital marketing (including most people on the digital marketing teams). Benefits are good, PTO is ok, they try to push a narrative that they are "relaxed"

Cons

I didn't feel challenged. A lot of the campaigns were assigned by project managers who had no idea what they were doing so it was hard to manage all of the monthly budgets, all advertising channels, and chase after people for simple things like what is the landing page for this ad. Most of the project managers aren't trained in digital marketing and have a traditional background which made it hard to receive information to actually launch the campaigns. The company recently started investing more money into digital advertising since covid so before, everything was in print. New processes are being implemented to try and move the department forward but there are still colleagues who aren't adhering to these changes or "up with the times" and it makes it challenging to feel like the department is progressive or up to speed with trends. There is so much work that needs to be done to help the marketing in all forms (web, branding, SEO, content, paid, organic, etc...) but none of the departments really collaborate with each other. The departments are extremely siloed and this causes friction across departments because not everyone is always on the same side of understanding.

Pros

Commitment to saving lives very strong

Cons

Senior management must be replaced before you consider working here. The Board Of Directors is oblivious or they simply don't care. The horrific culture will remain until executives are replaced. Employee satisfaction has plummeted from 60% to under 20% over the past few years and it is getting worse. Leadership only knows how to lead by fear and intimidation. Good new VPs depart quickly when they realize what they walked into. There has been 5 reorganizations in 6 years and no one is held accountable. There has been 4 Sales executives fired in 5 years and no one is held accountable. Employees don’t dare speak their minds for fear of termination. Sadly, employees have given up. Former employees on Linkedin will give you the honest insight into working here. Look elsewhere.
