Pros

Made some really great friends that I would consider family now.

Cons

Poor compensation - go somewhere that will pay you what you’re worth. Poor management - you either get stuck with a micromanager or a manager that barely knows you exist. You won’t be shown that you’re appreciated, that your contributions matter, that you’re part of the team. Lots of office politics. It’s all about who you know and what you’re willing to do to get where you want to be. No clear direction at all. They preach change but nothing ever changes. Only some people get exit interviews. What is that? Someone that had only been there barely one year got an exit interview. I worked there 11 years and did not get an exit interview. They don’t care about you! They don’t want to know what they can do to improve. I’m not shocked by how many former colleagues have left NI in the short time since I left. They need to realize the great talent they’re losing.

If I could put below zero, I would.

Pros

Easy to work from home, skip work, not come in. Good cafe on campus.

Cons

Lack of respect amongst coworkers and from managers to subordinates. The sense of entitlement amongst some of the leadership is disgusting. Some managers (enough where it is affecting the entire company) mistreat employees, demean, and ridicule them. The company's general lack of frugality while claiming they want to help the community is bordering on inhumane. Food from unnecessary catering services are thrown away every single day. There were recent firings of over 150 employees but they found it necessary to hold a $2 million dollar "Company Day" (AKA Attaboyfest). That money could have gone back to the community they claim to want to help. Hypocritical to say the least. NI likes to pretend they have a "company culture" like that of Google, Whole Foods, and other companies. The only company culture you can find at NI is that of backstabbing, lack of "rule of law" - surrounded by mini-dictators who treat their "fiefdoms" as such. STAY AWAY. BEWARE.

Pros

NI hires very bright people, you get to work with talented engineers and professionals. Some of the products and technologies are innovative and in many cases used for breakthrough solutions.

Cons

Great managers are hard to find. Very few people in management roles truly have a calling and passion for developing their employees and matching their talents and professional objectives with the companies current and future needs.
