Pros

Good solid program. Ever since I started with Kumon, I have felt that I was able to give back to the community through hard work and dedication to learning the program. The individual branch teams are a family type atmosphere.

Cons

Wow, where to start. This place is considered a "money trap" where it looks good on the outside, but once you get in, you are sorry you did. It has gotten so bad at Kumon that the CFO has offered an IPAD Competition to see who can post the most positive review of the company. So you if you see an influx of recent positive reviews, they are, in essence, paid to write them. Management is at odds with each other. If they would take a minute to stop pacifying their own egos and objectives, they may see that they actually have hard working people around the company. The COO and new leadership from Japan cant even agree on how to implement the product. There hasnt been a feud like this since the Hatfield and McCoys, and it trickles down the chain to the ground level. Good people are leaving left and right because of how they have been treated. The COO does not have a clue on how to relate to people and makes up facts as he goes. Word of advice is if he quotes statistics to you, ask him for hard facts, because more often than not, they are fabricated to either make himself look good, or to try to scare people into submission or to accomplish his work.

New management at Kumon is awful

Pros

The company mission and philosophy are great. Unfortunately, senior management don't believe in what the company stands for. It's all a front.

Cons

Lack of communication, respect, and managerial competence for senior leadership. Senior managers often take part in unethical, immoral, and even illegal behavior.

Pros

Medical and 401k benefits are good.

Cons

Poor management. Managers don't know how to supervise or mentor staff. If you stand up to your manager then next you are written up by the HR department. Senior management is ridiculously unprofessional. Good employeees are slammed with work while others namely pals of the Japanese or the CFO/HR director are given plum positions with no work. If you complain about any Japanese Director or staff you are blacklisted and eventually terminated by the director of HR (actually the CFO). Some people spend their time screwing while others have to break their backs. Staff training is the worst I've experienced with trainers clueless. Women have no place in the management and are mere eye-candy - typical backward Japanese mentality.
