Pros

Great collaboration with team members. There are so many wonderful people who work at Koch, people of integrity and creativity. Much is expected of each person. The MBM principles are fantastic, even better when followed consistently. The opportunities for personal growth are there. Taking calculated risks in not discouraged. Mistakes are not penalized. Change is a regular part of the territory. The company cafeteria is great.

Cons

The workload is enough for at least two people. Filling open positions takes an enormous amount of time. Management approval for projects takes a long time. Communicating large changes from management to others isn't always polite; lead time is needed so everyone can get on board.

Koch Response

Thank you for providing feedback as I really value hearing from our employees. First, you hit it right on the nose as far as we have some great people here at Koch, and the culture and opportunities are what makes us unique as a business. I would echo your sentiment on the Wichita cafeteria as well! In regards to your experience as we continue to grow and expand our company, we have seen some growing pains along the way. We are working hard to ensure that as we scale up, communication is a priority. There are many ideas that we have for improving internal communication and we will continue to push forward on those. I was disappointed to see that your experience in regards to our compensation philosophy has not been either explained or applied in a way that feels right. I was very glad though to see that you connected well with how we ideally look to reward employees. The objective of our approach to compensation is to motivate employees to maximize their contributions to long-term value creation at our company. We do this by attempting to replicate some of the ways incentives work in the marketplace. Entrepreneurs are rewarded by being allowed to keep a portion of the value they create in society. Likewise, our philosophy is to pay our people based largely on their total contribution to long-term value creation at our company. We work hard to continue to apply this effectively in all areas to help motivate employees, align the interests of employees and the company, attract and retain highly productive employees, help every employee achieve his or her greatest potential and to create a culture of entrepreneurship. I would encourage you to follow up with your supervisor regarding your observations if they are not in line with what I have described above. We can only get better if we continue to reflect on our approach and adjust as needed. Thank you for sharing your feedback and for helping make us better! ~Greg Joerg, Vice President, Technology Solutions for KBS

Pros

Koch is an ever growing company that will allow you to grow with them. There are a variety of interesting jobs within Koch. Your level of success with Koch is steered through your ambition and desire to advance. You can go as far as you want to go with your career.

Cons

The Koch "process" which drives all aspects in every area of Koch is a different entity of and in itself, and as such it may be difficult to integrate successfully. It is not easy nor simple to acclimate through total immersion in the company and may overwhelm a new employee. Depending on when you start with Koch there may or may not be training and or time for senior coworkers to assist you with assimilating into Koch.

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits; co-workers are competent; organization is growing (doubling every 6 years)

Cons

Performance evaluations are based on subjective feedback from customers and co-workers; must be subjectively considered a good "culture fit" regarding Market Based Management guiding principles and embody them in all work activities in order to succeed; one negative "SBO" (situation, behavior, outcome) regarding MBM guiding principles can erase a considerable amount of positive work results; salary bonus is based on subjective evaluation of contributions and can be unfairly administered.
