Pros

There is some job security, only because it's hard for them to keep someone there long. HR was easygoing on vacation time off (unpaid). The job itself was very easy.

Cons

Incompetent bonehead management, security team very shady, small salaries. Stupid sale structures that come to all Kmarts directly from HQ, there's nothing the managers can do about it. Bait and switch sales that rile up customers. Endless stream of high school kids coming in to work registers, and leaving soon after once they see how bad and low paying the job is.

Pros

• Always a good parking spot, the parking lot is always empty. • A half hour unpaid break where you can leave the building (only for shifts longer than 6 hours). • Co-workers who will share the same despair as you.

Cons

• Anyone in an authority position can never come to an agreement on anything. • Never an opportunity to voice your opinions. • Getting written up for clocking in at 8:01 for an 8:00 shift, or 7:59 for an 8:00 shift, or not taking exactly a 30 minute break, or for talking on the sales floor, or for existing in general. • Reoccurring health problems for working in a dirty environment. • Dealing with customers who get upset for the store being understaffed and not being able to do anything about it. • Working with ancient equipment that only works half the time. • Having so many items to put on a con list that you can't decide what to write down.

Pros

Working at Kmart is pretty simple. It pays a even salary between all types of associates so that there is balance.

Cons

Kmart is disorganized. There is no nice way to say this. HR sucks at giving hours. If you ask for time off, you will most definitely be scheduled to work that day. They allow customer service reps to rule over the cashiers although the make the same amount as us and were most likely a cashier just 2 days ago. There is little room to move up in pay scale and is pretty much an entry level job.
