Pros
Kindercare is well funded and I never had to buy my own supplies. They are also always hiring and pay well for early childhood education.
Cons
I was not given any time to prep for the classroom, but I was expected to adjust and implement curriculum, set up activities, and document child's growth and development in a scrapbook. This took hours of my personal time that I was not compensated for. Staff was unprofessional. I saw multiple people on their phones, demeaning children, being too physical and too rough for my comfort with children, gossiping about children and other staff with management (not to remedy negative behaviors or ask for advice/support, just to complain). While many staff really did care about the wellbeing of the children they worked with, they were rarely able to implement effective teaching strategies due to the lack of training on best practices for ECE and the rotating assistant teacher model, in which the assistant teacher rarely had experience or education in ECE and would float between classrooms creating constant inconsistency.
