Pros

My work-life in the 11 months I've been with the IDF have been quite unique. Having owned my own business for more than 9 years, I enjoy seeing that the IDF team has an owner's mindset meaning that my colleagues take responsibility for their work, which is quite unusual (in the positive sense). Being a part of a high performance team is a privilege and I feel that I have learned new skills and new ways of cooperating, something which I can use both in professional life as well in my personal one. I also enjoy the team trip that we've just come home from. Given my background, it made sense that I was the right person to organize the trip and it was a pleasure to see how everybody came together and got to know each other, which is very refreshing, since we are all usually doing remote work from our homes. During the team trip, there was one time at a restaurant, when people were laughing so hard that tears were rolling down their faces. It's really unique to have a company culture where people have so much fun together and are so committed to our mission at the same time.

Cons

At the beginning it was difficult to adjust to the fact that my colleagues were merely faces on Skype calls. Having met them in Budapest made it a whole lot easier to connect with them and appreciate their warmth and professionalism.

Thanks sooooo much for your positive review. It was indeed an absolute blast to be in Budapest. Thanks for your ultra-hard work in arranging it. But wait.... whale watching... why haven't we thought of that? We'll start the planning immediately! ;-)

My actions do the talking

Pros

I was unfortunate to have had some bad experiences in my previous employment, but at the IDF my actions do the talking for me. My colleagues do not engage in office gossip but recognize my work and the results I create. I felt I was going crazy in my previous job because I didn’t have time to get my job done but wasted most of my time. It’s extremely refreshing to be able to let my actions and results do the talking.

Cons

The thing that gives me the opportunity to work with a global team is also the thing that presents a big challenge, namely the different time zones for my colleagues. I can sometimes get a bit frustrated when my work is blocked by someone because they are sleeping when I am working. It does not happen very often but I’m the impatient type so it does tend to frustrate me at times.

Thanks for taking time to write the review! We're so glad to see that you've not encountered any of the bad experiences you've had previously. We're ultra-determined to *never* allow office egos or a destructive atmosphere. Good point about the time zone issues. It's something we've tried to handle in various ways but we've not yet nailed it. As we grow, we can form teams partially based on their compatibility in terms of time zones. That should solve the problem once and for all. We're not there yet - so please be patient ;-)

Learned a lot... for better and worse

Pros

Processes are certainly in place. Salary is fair. Flexible hours. Remote work from home.

Cons

Micro-management style of working or no direction at all, always in extremes. OCD in a non-positive sense. No true (people) management . No overarching big picture of what the company wants to do. So far into the minutiae that larger important issues are ignored or badly managed. No senior level staff. Chaotic at times. Cult-ish atmosphere and quite a lot of turnover.
