SSC Head office-Not living up to the Home Depot "Value Wheel" of Taking Care of Our People

Pros

Work-sponsored Team Depot volunteer days at charities. Nice facilities with gym and renovated lunch room. Underground parking. Reasonable pay.

Cons

Ten hour days are the norm and forget about lunch. Rumours abound from November to Jan 31st about how many head count will go before year end and every time you get promoted you have to sign that you will accept ONLY legal minimum if let go.

easy-in; common sense carries a lot of weight in interview; part-time benefits; able to excel, but it comes at a price;

Cons

- low pay - want the knowledge base of a pro for minimal wages; - too many moral-ethical conflicts regarding sales at all costs, i.e. pushing credit cards and return policies; - staffing based on sales, but low staffing = low sales. It is a downward spiral; - training is info based, not context based. Customers rarely want to know the features of a piece of equipment - they want to know how they can do this, that or the other thing. Current training does not answer to this need.

just say yes; get the orange apron culture; be available 7am-10:30pm 7 days/week; u-can advance w/out a huge pay increase.

Cons

understaffed; huge stress for little pay; poor benefits; inefficient training; monthly reviews deflate even great employees; they own your schedule
