Pros

Benefits, free/reduced cruise opportunities, co-workers

Cons

2nd floor support departments are worked to death. My manager kissed up to her higher ups and was therefore allowed to treat her staff however she wished (hence the reason for me quitting after 5+ years). Lack of Human Resources support. Lack of follow-through unless it was something that benefited management.

Pros

I worked with some good people. I loved to get together with other employees for get-togethers or events. I traveled the world and went on a couple of cruises. I loved working with Mariner guests. I loved working with all of the amazing travel professionals throughout United States and Canada. I learned so much knowledge about travel industry and got some good training throughout the years. I liked working at the Seattle office. I liked working from home as well. I was able to be a better mom and be more available for my kids when I worked at home.

Cons

The Pandemic was heartbreaking for the cruise and travel industry. There were employee surveys. I was smart to keep my survey neutral and positive for feedback. It is like you could not really question if someone in upper management did anything that was questionable. Mentally and emotionally, I was exhausted by the end of my career. I just wanted it to end and not feel any more stress. I wanted my career to have a good ending.

Pros

Long trips mean you quickly obtain sea time, enabling you to move on to better offers elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend staying there much longer than required to get your tickets and move on to a better company.

Cons

A surprising amount of onboard charges. Such as $40 for roughly 500-600Mb internet. I found the culture onboard to be pretty toxic. I felt people enjoyed the failure of others rather than being encouraged to succeed. Forced family-style corporate culture, which I found pretty nauseating. Everyone has to call each other ‘teammates’ now for some reason. I would much instead you were treated like a proper employee.
