Pros
- Good office location: near Alexanderplatz, really easy to commute. - Good discount in boxes: HF offer discounts in HF boxes which are really good. - Interesting tech stack for new projects: all new projects are using Golang for backend and React for frontend. The recently move to Kubernetes helped a lot as well. - Nice environment: most of the people are nice. - Good career progression: you can join as a back-end developer and end up working with front-end, plataform, being a squad lead and more. - Good salary
Cons
The biggest issue are the cuts in the benefits. German classes: Employees used to have all 8 German levels from A1 to B2 (A11, A12, A21, A22, B11, B12, B21, B22) offered in the office free of charge. This means a dedicated employee could achieve B2 level in German in 8 months. Since last year the company has changed its policy and now it offers €250 per year and the employee is responsible for paying, attending to the classes and later expense. The biggest issue is the fact the €250 is enough to pay one level per year. Using only the benefits offered by HF, it would take 8 years to achieve B2 level. Remote work: The process to be able to work remotely for couple of weeks is a bit bureaucratic. Office environment: The location of the office is nice, but the office lacks some pretty basic things. The amount of restrooms is not enough. It's common to try to go to the restroom 3 or 4 times before you can find one empty. In the summer the office is too hot. Not a single air conditioner in all the office. Also, some of the desks are too narrow and not comfortable to work.
