Pros

I really enjoyed my time as an Order Blaster and Data Entry Associate with Harry and David! I worked seasonally over the winter holidays of 2015. I liked the work that I was doing (data entry), appreciated the people that I worked with and the flexibility of scheduling (they were able to accommodate me and the schedule that I had with my other job). It was a fun way to earn some extra money over the winter!

Cons

I was told in my orientation that there would be an option to switch shifts with other employees if needed; however, sometimes the following week's schedules would only be posted a couple of days in advance. This made switching shifts difficult. Also, we could clock in no more than two minutes early (at the start of our shifts or returning from a break) but were also penalized if we clocked in any later than our assigned time.

Pros

I loved working for a luxury food services company at first. I had a great team of employees who truly cared about our customers. The products are high quality and taste delicious.

Cons

In 2011 Harry and David changed its business strategy and became less customer focused. The company pushed out everyone who had been with the company over 15 years, which is not how you reward loyalty. I was only with the company two years. The company them demoted assistant manager and asked the keyholders to reapply for their own jobs or to ask someone to quit. The keyholders who were left were demoted to 20 hours a week so we couldn't qualify for benefits. The company changed packaging so that they could charge more for smaller amounts of product inside nicer packaging. People quit left and right and the company lost its top talent. Someone I knew from the company was forced to work 38 days in a row (9+ hours a day) because the district manager refused to hire any help. As soon as the person took a sick leave, the district manager immediately hired two employees.

Cons

Very negative place to work, stores are not part of a "team" corporate treats them like there a bother. Company does 1970's marketing relies on Managers to do everything for stores no rewards for job well done no help from corporate on hiring.
