Aggressive environment and poor leadership

Pros

- Grover is a growing startup with an innovative concept that can bring so much value to the world (even though internally the core interest is still only acquisition at any cost) - Having an exciting product leads to hiring interesting people, in this sense, you can find some diversity on different cultures and backgrounds. - After more than 6 years working with startups, my Grover experience made me realize I don't want to work on startups anymore. The stress was so high and overwhelming that gave me strength to quit and pursue my own dreams instead.

Cons

- The higher leadership work style is more into aggressiveness as a common behavior. They often act like old sales companies in which giving tough love and hard praises are seen as motivation tools - and overwork is praised as commitment. - In less than one year, I've seen at least 5 people leaving the company mainly burned out due to a toxic environment and leadership behaviour that goes unchecked. - The commercial team has an aggressive behaviour towards the stakeholders, often undermining people's expertise, being very rude in communication and acting as if their support stakeholders are interns to fullfill their wishes, rather than professionals that should be respected and treated with care. - The leadership of the commercial team in not solution oriented, nor interested in fostering a positive working environment. Their approach is often to blame other people's "lack of proactivity" instead of realizing the need and importance of strong leadership to make teams thrive . People get burned out while doing unnecessary back and forth, lost on the absence of clear processes and having to engage all the time in ego driven discussions rather than looking for real solutions.

Pros

pace is fast and I liked it. if you have an idea, you'll be able to work on it for a short period of time; then the CEO will shut down your project for little to no reason International: many employees are from different country; that is really cool to work with them. The product is great and the potential amazing; but the company is run by a CEO who can't capture this opportunity.

Cons

the environment is incredibly stressful, toxic and unorganised. The CEO changes his mind and the company priority every other months with no explanation. so if you have been focusing your energy on a priority you can bin it a month later. worth, you can easily get fired; just because the CEO believes your job is not valuable. the CEO believe that treating people poorly is efficient and make them work hard. The problem is that is direct report are also applying the same behavior. In a nutshell, unless you're desperate for a job, do not join this company. soon or later, you will be crunched

Pros

- Some of the people working there are pretty awesome - They just opened up a new office

Cons

- A fear based culture led by extremely incompetent leaders. They only tell you when things are wrong and never present a vision or strategy. - Poorest financial planning any company can have. They overhire and then fire people without any communication. You just discover people are no longer with the company when they are marked as deactivated - No clear promotion process. People receive salary bumps without anyone knowing about it. Others have to wait for months to years. - Drug-induced rants by the CEO are common practice. He is a recluse that only comes out to erratically and publicly yell at people who work for him. - The ciruclar and sustainability model are pure facades for their investors. Leadership does not care about any of this and only want to see short-term growth. - When people raise concerns to top management they either ignored them or, when it becomes too confronting for leadership, they just fire people to their liking.
