Safe and slow

Pros

Job stability, relaxed environment, supportive culture, WFH during Covid-19, no metric tracking (metrics don't influence comparative performance, only serve as a red line for remediation), great 401k and (recently revised/reduced) pension

Cons

Very slow promotion timelines which MUST be adhered to, no separation between work levels (I've seen level 1s and 2s take on level 4 and 5 desks for months/permanently- all for no additional pay and without any promotion acceleration), No metrics are used to compare/reward high performers, Large discrepancy with work loads - some buyers have 0 new tasks in 2+ weeks while others have enormous number of tasks, Inefficient processes everywhere which take 1-2 hours per day but should take 5-10 minutes, disinterest in applying basic business practices to track costs (business costs and unit costs)

Pros

9/80, Pension Plan, Bonuses, Benefits GA is a place I was proud to work for, building UAV’s for our military. The majority of my co-workers were great people, collaborative, and hard working. GA offers great salaries, benefits, and a pension plan in addition to a 9/80 work schedule.

Cons

Toxic culture, Silos, Nepotism, Company bleeding $, Management Beyond all this facade of perks, lays a toxic underbelly of nepotism, a silo-type culture that doesn’t hesitate to throw each department under the bus. No one takes ownership of issues, only deflects and blames others. They operate way over budget and can’t be competitive on contracts with their competitors. Management has changed and they are in way over their heads. Horrible employees that have long documented histories of subordination, poor performance, and even assaults on fellow employees are never fired nor reprimanded. High turn over of talented people who only stayed for the 9/80 and pension. I’m glad I left before the August 2020 layoff of 600+ people after the loss of some large contracts. The future at GA is definitely questionable.
