Pros

Good starting pay out of school. Good benefits, paid holidays.

Cons

Politics, Good Old Boys Club atmosphere, managers sleeping with subordinates, giving away Government assets to friends, sexisim, ageism, retaliation for whistle blowing, constant backstabbing from coworkers and management. Lower than cost of living annual pay increases if you make waves. (ie. 2% or less) Wife/Husband swapping while on deployment. Misappropriation of government money and assets. Frequent verbal disparagement from coworkers that goes unchecked by management and HR. Frequent verbal disparagement of gays and lesbians. The culture is one of intolerance.

Pros

Relaxed work environment. Work/Life balance is good.

Cons

PAY. Pay is horrible. I love everything about this job but will probably leave soon... I could be doing the exact same thing somewhere else making MUCH better money. ESPECIALLY with the CA cost of living... General Atomic's pay is a joke. The other issue is micromanagement-- it runs rampant throughout GA. For so many military people that work there, it's embarrassing to see how much micromanagement occurs. Set your people free! Let them surprise you!

Pros

THE EMPLOYEES are great people, 401K and Pension, work/life balance, 9/80 work weeks, growing company, products, access to training

Cons

Bad Management: Good old boys club! All ex-military and very demanding and controlling. Doesn't value you and the work you do; no respect; no process improvements; sexism, sexual harassment; work overload/burnout; favoritism; no advancement/passing qualified candidates up; notorious bad reviews, with no warning, several codes of conduct broken, etc. Bad HR: Doesn't back the employees expressing major concerns; allows for bad management to belittle women in the workplace; transfers managers with major red flags (i.e sexual harassment investigations, time card changes, ) and doesn't fire them; won't file complaints, allows for hostile work environments
