Pros

+Enjoyed the role as I was mainly in contact with the trading desk. +Good visibility on oil markets, very professional and calm corporate culture. It is endorsed to think twice before acting, people are very polite and treat everyone as equal. +Good HSE culture.

Cons

-I would have gladly continued at the company given I were to work freely with my Brussels-based team for a fair salary. 1000 €/month net hardly makes a living in the EU, it feels quite exploitative topped with union busting. These lead to gigantic fluctuation both in Prague and Budapest, which further lead to an organization that's forever stuck at the starting line. -Occasional 50-100 € premiums feel embarassing rather than motivating. -Most of the value leak is due to belief in candlestick diagram patterns and other nonsense that the management worships. -Equality and diversity seem true at a global level, but the European division is heavily burdened by British exceptionalism. -Bureaucratic processes designed to discourage employees from reimbursing certain job-related fees. -New Budapest office is the Holy Grail of dreadful modern architecture. I'd rather work from a cave. Not an Asperger-friendly space at all. -Incredibly bad IT systems and IT security.

Pros

• Competitive salary for fresh graduates • Comprehensive technical knowledge gain (Many great specialists) • Flexible work hours

Cons

• Remuneration not competitive after 2-3 years inside company and Malaysia employees are treated second class employees (Yearly adjustments lower than inflation rate) • Yearly performance review (PDS) very flawed & outdated (Ranking are based on internal politics & not actual contributions) • Career planning is nil, only way you will get leadership team attention is through resignation notice (By then they will offer you subpar assignment before recalling you back to KLTC after 2-3 years and you are back to bad roles in KLTC) • Work becomes very mundane, and rotation of roles is very slow (You will be looking at the same set of charts for the next 3-4 years without any chance of advancement) • Sugar coating culture is very prominent here (HR and leadership team have pointless employee forums as they have template answers for all employees, don’t have it the first place if its template answers !) • Company direction very outdated, leadership team only started to buy into idea of renewable fuels & CCR after some of board members were voted out !

Pros

Good working environment. Very nice colleagues. Opportunity to work in a global environment.

Cons

Very conservative. Poor sitaution handling to retain talented employees (during oil price crisis, pandamic). Always say there salary program is competitive even when most of us say it is not. Flexible hours, they don't track you work hours, but that means you don't get paid for overtime. Most people overwork especially teams with multiple locations, as you kind of forced to have meetings at night and/or early morning to connect with your other locations. Sometimes I have 7-10 pm meetings multiple days a week. So they promote work-life balance. Easy to say for higher management positions, not really for the real working people. Bad ranking system (or 'assessment' they call). You have to go through a very stressful performance summary every year. And as the others have said, even if you are very good at your job, if you don't know how to present yourself, not well-known to the assessors group, you are likely to get not-so-good result. Some jobs also automatically have advantage over others for assessment.
