Pros

It gets you in the door. Into China. Into a University setting. It also is good for beginner teachers of ESL, as you repeat your lessons frequently.

Cons

Bad pay. Lots of hours. Eben though your teaching time seems low and they advertise the role as this. You have to travel for nearly 6 hours a week unpaid. You also have huge breaks in the day because it's a university. Whilst you may only teach 6.5 hours a day you will be there for 10 or more.

Pros

The compensation allowed for a comfortable living in China. Students made the work enjoyable through their enthusiasm and commitment to learning. Was given the opportunity to create and implement my own material. EF is a good starting point for those who want to work in ESL.

Cons

The organization cares much more about where the next sale is coming from than the development of its clients. I had to strike a balance between being an actual educator and a hired foreign friend. More internal politics than I could have ever imagined.

Pros

A great place to learn as a teacher and get your feet wet when teaching ESL. Also, they provide training for you.

Cons

Long hours and very sales oriented.
