Pros

Easy to get into a position abroad with no prior experience Great on-boarding program and welcome team Pay always on time Far more stable and reputable than most other companies in the same business

Cons

Horrible management Constantly squandering the talents of their staff Extra hours required to be successful Rampant favoritism and no potential for career advancement Treated as a presenter, you will not be treated like a teacher Sales is the only thing important to management, they lie, you pay the price, no one cares

Pros

- Reasonable salary - Friendly co-workers - Great students - They make the visa process easy - Nice community among teachers

Cons

- Senior management was very rigid and cold. They don't trust teachers and generally treat you like a monkey. Don't expect to have any say in how or what you teach. - Most teachers have to work on Saturdays and Sundays (the lucky ones work just one weekend day) - Schools often in far-flung locations - Long hours, fairly limited vacation time (especially for a teacher)

Pros

None, nothing, nada, zip, zilch...

Cons

Would you like to work for the best English language course in the world? Get the best training and the best benefits? Have an employer that will treat you with respect and fairness? If you would, then avoid this company at all costs! Look at any job website and see how frequently E1 (EF) posts vacancies for teachers. Why is their turnover is so high? I'll tell you why. E1 is a money-grabbing, heartless, soulless corporation. They do not care about anything other than profit. They are the Mc.Donald's of the English language teaching world (and that's being nice)! To them, you are not a teacher, you are not an asset, you are nothing more than a statistic in a spreadsheet for their monthly reports. They don’t want teachers, they want employees that will follow any demand, no matter how ridiculous, without causing any fuss. They want “yes” people. If you rock the boat in any way, they’ll file any and every complaint against you, no matter how trivial or unjustified, without telling you about them and without any concrete evidence, and they will throw everything at you when they’re ready to get rid of you. They will issue written warnings and threaten you with dismissal sooner than take a breath. Be prepared for them to lie to and about you; quite often straight to your face! They will tie themselves up in knots with their lies and will find even more allegations to throw at you if you dare to question them! Be prepared to hang your head in disbelief as you listen to your employer try to make you believe that you are the problem. And don't get me started on D.E.I.B. - they will preach it, but they sure won't practice it. Even their contracts are discriminative and violate basic human rights, but they assume everyone is ignorant of the law or just too desperate for a job to care. When you do leave (quit, get fired, or wait out your contract), they will cancel you immediately, your company email account (so make sure you send yourself copies of anything important), the WA groups, even your work permit (regardless of how long is actually left on it), so you have no choice but to leave the country and you can't fight them if you aren't there. And the penalties you have to pay them if you break contract early are INSANE! This company will say and do anything to cover their own failures and avoid spending money or, god forbid, losing 0.0001% of their precious profit so don't be surprised if they try to find a way out of paying you your salary (and bonuses) when you leave. And they will not hesitate to breach contract because they know their workers can’t afford to hire lawyers and go to court on the salary they pay, Trust me, you will pay for their incompetence.
