Pros

Correct visa and salary on time.

Cons

Foreign teachers are nothing more than performing monkeys often caught up in the local staff's jockeying for position, poor management from top to bottom. Long hours and local staff/management with zero knowledge of the courses interfering along with parents who think they can speak the language and teach better than the teachers. Steer clear.

Thank you for your comments. Firstly, I would like to say that we appreciate that you remained with us for three years and I am truly sorry that your experience wasn’t good. It is unfortunate that the conditions were such that you felt that you could not escalate and improve the situation in the three years you remained with us. Truly it is a failure on our part that we did not provide enough support and lost your confidence. It would be helpful for us to know which city and school you were in so we can investigate that situation more closely. Please know that we have received your comments and take them very seriously. We know it’s a good idea to improve product knowledge for all EF staff. Your feedback has given us an opportunity to learn and improve this.

Pros

Pays on-time, handles all the nasty stuff (visa, etc). Fun work environment. Good training. Easy classes, materials are pre-made (you can make your own materials as well, if you'd like). Salary is ok, although the location of your center will affect your expenses greatly (even within the same city, and salary doesn't reflect this). You can work here with no prior experience. Overall good starter job.

Cons

Profit is king. Doesn't care about employees except for sales staff (This is a major problem, tends to cause a lot of other issues). Work long-hours including weekday evenings and weekends. Not much in the way of promotion opportunities, promotions tend to be given based on office politics. Having experience and certifications doesn't get you treated much differently than a brand new recruit. Policies change often, so take any comment about the future with a grain of salt. Often pressures experienced staff to "do more" (usually tasks that would normally resemble a promotion) without providing additional benefits. Overall bad long-term job. *A minor side complaint that is a good example of this companies priorities: There was no AC in some centers (including ours) in summer (Temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius). The AC was "broken" - for two summers - except for the sales office.

Pros

A great place to learn as a teacher and get your feet wet when teaching ESL. Also, they provide training for you.

Cons

Long hours and very sales oriented.
