Pros

I started in 2014 in Jakarta for the Swara group. It was fun in the classroom but dealing with management was impossible, to say the least.

Cons

They promised visas but never actually got any......immigration raids were constant and they would tell new teachers that they would be getting visas GUARANTEED but never actually provided any. Work would start in a public school in the mornings and often end at 9 o clock at night. ....teachers would often suffer from exhaustion.

Pros

The company is well established and they know what they're doing. You can always expect to get paid on time, the company culture is unique in the sense that everyone is quite friendly and communicative, and there are opportunities for development if you actively seek it.

Cons

I've known of some in-center managers who have not been ideal or fair. I imagine the same thing happens at other companies too but at the end of the day, no company is perfect and there are downsides to every organization. I mean, you are in a foreign country so you need to be adaptable anyway. I never had any problems with my direct manager and felt I was always heard and respected.

Pros

Ok, folks here's the deal with EF. They pay for your flight, hotel accommodations, visa processing, reimburse many of your pre-travel expenses, and give you a living wage that easily covers expenses for single adult. They provide social gatherings, training, and a jobs for mid-career professionals such as myself to see another part of the world. This is a HUGE company. It is by no means, perfect. But it is, surprisingly, still growing. For anyone that has some basic people skills, and likes to teach kids, can write their own story at EF. I personally have found the complainers are young, recent college grads, or don't have significant job experience in a corporate environment. The hours mid-week are short, with long weekends. This should be expected, as it is an extracurricular training center.

Cons

The nature of this job tends to attract transient-type, far-left thinking individuals. If you have a good work ethic, significant work experience, are professional, and a diligent worker, PLEASE come work at this company. We need more of you here and less of the other type. The only thing I do NOT like about EF, is the not-so-subtle theme of a leftist political agenda (radical feminism, globalization, climate change, links to Clinton) that are prominently displayed in the curriculum, even at low levels. The curriculum should be more objective. I don't like teaching kids we're all going to need to move to Mars due to climate change (I am not joking).
