Pros

The lower level network operations staff is composed of hard working, intelligent people who are dedicated to doing a good job though struggling to keep up due to things out of their control. Lots of good people in Master Control, TOC and Engineering (aka the folks who actually do any work)

Cons

1. Very low pay 2. Company keeps changing benefit plans. They get worse and worse over the years. 3. Upper management is concerned only with making a $ 4. Any position below upper management is left out of the line of communications and generally neglected. 5. Information is purposely withheld from those who need it to benefit the upper positions (i.e. some of the people in supervisory positions withhold information so that their positions can be seen as more valuable) 6. Upper management is mean, condescending and occasionally makes women and minority members uncomfortable. 7. Though the HR department is qualified and helpful, management often takes HR matters into their own hands and attempts to circumvent HR involvement in very real HR related issues. 8. Training is minimal, incomplete and laughable. 9. Once a salary cap is met, people are laid off. 10. Upper management is in the habit of spreading lies and rumors about employees to justify layoffs and bad decisions. I have seen this happen while working there regarding people other than myself and have seen it happen to me after I was no longer with the company. I was told that I was laid off due to "restructuring" and then was told by a former colleague that my previous supervisor went around telling people that I wasn't "carrying my weight". Of course, many managers were laid off along with me and the company is now struggling to maintain clients. 11. Clients are belittled and ridiculed by all levels of management and not given the attention deserved. 12. Morale is almost completely depleted and goes completely unaddressed. 13. Lower level employees completely distrust anyone working in a position above them (for a reason). 14. No room for advancement or growth. 15. Complete lack of transparency. 16. Stressful 17. Zero appreciation is shown for hard work and accomplishment of tasks. In my many many years of service and loyalty, I had one supervisor give me a thanks or appreciation for a job well done. A great deal of praise came from clients and from staff reporting to me. Contrarily, blame is frequently placed on reporting staff, anything to avoid accountability by upper management. After leaving, I was contacted by many of my former clients who had my personal phone number. They were baffled at my sudden disappearance and expressed to me that I was the only person in that company that they trusted. This should say a lot about the upper management who constantly lied to them and delayed important projects. As of this writing, almost all of the channel managers have been laid off and clients are dropping. Stay away from this poisonous affair. Fair warning to all potential clients and employees. This place is eating itself up from the inside out. Everyone there is looking for work elsewhere. Good luck, because working for Encompass is a scarlet letter you must bear and account for at every future interview.

Pros

Free lunch (but only a 20 minute lunch. It was recently shortened from 30 minutes)

Cons

Out of a multitude of knowledgeable employees, they choose not to promote anyone and instead hire people with no experience in the industry AND no management experience. There is a very negative culture. There is a lot of turnover. There are a lot of prejudices. My advice to workers there currently is keep track of every email and get everything in writing.

Pros

Good people to work with, good place for young people fresh out of college to start off from the bottom and move on to a better company. Good hard working young managers(atleast some are) that are great at training and care about the day to day with their staff. All engineers are very knowlegeable and know what they are doing. Andddd saved the best for last, glad I was only here for 5 weeks before moving on to a better company to use my experience with who had better benefits, and way more incentives than Encompass which has ZERO incentives. Put my 2 weeks in and was told I could leave the same day, that Encompass didnt need 2 weeks. Even better!! Thanks for doing me a solid!!! Breakfastes and lunches be good tho

Cons

Where do I begin.... If you like being wayyyy underpaid and overworked 110% busy all the time come to Encompass. If you like having no place to train or a station to work on and working with cheap outdated gear. Then come on over to Encompass. I have been in this business almost 30 years and took an entry level position here. This place needs clear career paths for its employees yet Encompass has none. Ive never seen a company where the Assistant managers know more than their own managers, the supervisors might as well be operators because really thats all they are is glorified operators not sure what they do. I was put into a 6 week training program where I trained with the "training manager" maybe two hours out of a total of 4 days. Encompass does things very cheap and does not care about its employees what so ever, they don't even care about their clients. I have never seen a company operate this way. I really feel for the ones that actually do the work ie (some of the managers and all assistant managers/coordinators). Last but not least the big rumor from the new "chief people officer" who btw I never saw nor met, was no more raises were going to be given. Encompass has zero incentives, I was told that all employees even had to pay for their own food at their last years Holiday party's. UNBELIEVABLE. Not to mention the place be run down AC and power issues and a lot of new folks that talk like they are from the ghetto and the first thing out of their mouths at the start of their shifts is "whats for lunch". Alot of hats and baggy clothing. Alot of new operators, Encompass has become a revolving door, I saw several employees leave in the short time I stayed at Encompass, only people who had been here for years knew what they were doing, supervisors had no clue, some of the managers and senior managers knew nothing or atleast the ones I met didnt. Assistant managers knew more than their own managers and even some coordinators. Never seen a broadcast facility ran this way. Alot of networks leaving I was told NBC was leaving and wanted to get into NBC when I was hired, however decided not to since they will be gone. This place is completely un-organized and is ran like a college broadcast classroom that I participated in a while back. Its unreal.
