The other employees were like a family to me. Now thanks to the corporate, I will never get to work with them again

I spent a decade working for dover saddlery. My wages went up barely a dollar in 10 years. I was just terminated with no warning, and I wasnt told directly, another employee had to tell me. Our whole store was terminated with no notice, within 24 hours the store inventory was packed up and gone. This is no way to treat long term employees. If you want to be paid a living wage and have any sort of job security, dont work here!! It is not worth it. I was not even offered a job at another location. All employees of dover are disposable

What could be a fantastic place to work by combining professional expertise and being an equestrian is instead, depressing and toxic. Compensation is sub-par while the expectations for devotion and dedication to the company are extraordinary. Expect long hours, and no rewards or recognition. There is no interest in employee growth shown across the board by management, but lots of interest on the part of management in continuing their party-like attitude of hiring friends and family and promoting within themselves. Further, management operates on a reactive, pivot-based approach with no overall strategy or effort put into understanding the market, the customer or the overall economical climate. I would not recommend working here even if you love horses.

Employees passionate about their work as most are equestrian's themselves and value the employee discount above everything.

Cons

Primarily the CEO's vanity project. No real leadership or strategy. Relatively unprofessional group with some exceptions. Very scrappy office setting with little to no amenities.
