Pros

Great products and incredible brands!

Cons

Global teams are run by experts in theory — former management consultants who care only about their next promotion and pay grade. Global team leadership is mediocre, lacking real market, category or channel expertise and showing absolutely no care for the market’s success or actual commercial results. There’s rampant favouritism and excessive spending on glossy projects for investors that never see the light of day or reach consumers.

Pros

Great people, competitive pay, everyone is bonus eligible and the benefits are decent. There are a lot of great things about Diageo. They do seem to care about employees. Even though the company is large, and slightly risk averse (understandably so), they are willing to hear new and innovative ideas from all staff, regardless of position.

Cons

A lot of miscommunication because of global structure. Also, they are suddenly requiring all employees in the office after moving to the World Trade Center. They are being very draconian about it now, taking attendance and making threats. This is not what employees want in 2023. Flexible working is one of the reasons I joined the company. Companies that don’t adapt to a changing world, will not be able to attract great talent. If they continue treating people like children, especially those that are great employees, they will end up with a toxic culture and their profits will suffer. It is too bad that a once great, fun, and innovative company is moving backwards.
