Pros

Crystal Legal Services is a customer centric company and prides itself on setting the standards for the industry and doing things right. The heavily supportive environment allows you to grow and develop in a safe environment and opportunities for progression are there for the right people who are passionate and dedicated about delivering the values of the company. Hard work and dedication is rewarded but you are heavily exposed and visible so there is a big focus on personal responsibility and accountability.

Cons

No company sick pay which heavily impacts the genuine. Due to the rapid growth of the company, roles and responsibilities are not always defined clearly.

Good afternoon, We are glad to see that you see the company in such a positive light. We believe that our employees work hard to get where they are and this really shows in our BAU at Crystal. As a company we are aiming to become a destination employer and continuous improvement is happening as we speak. We hope you know that management's door is always open for your feedback and ideas about the business. However we will make these suggestions visible to our management team. Many thanks.

A glorified PPI call centre

Pros

The office is easy to get to by car, bus or train and it is located in a nice office park. Flexible working is possible and if you get on with the right people then you can progress.

Cons

The managers and especially human resources are the most cynical people I have ever met. If someone in the team was ill then all the managers would make out that they were faking illness. The company management team told people to 'like' the company on Facebook or it would be looked down on by managers. Little future for the company once PPI claims dry out in 12-18 months.

Good afternoon, We are glad to see that you see the company in a positive light. The location of our business is great and we are proud to be where we are. We hope the flexible working was appreciated by yourself and you were able to progress in your role. As a company we are aiming to become a destination employer and continuous improvement is happening as we speak. We hope you knew that management's door was always open for your feedback and ideas about the business, we hope you made this known while you were here. However we will make these suggestions visible to our management team. Many thanks and good luck in the future.

Pros

The management are very visible and there are lots of social activities to get involved in. If you're willing to work and not challenge inappropriate behavior then its a job for life.

Cons

The pay is very very low. The recruitment process is inconsistent and the recruitment team openly promote unfair recruitment practice (like automatically declining people who are older because they're assumed not to be 'fun'). Staff and managers freely talk about customers in a demeaning way. Discrimination is rife (hardly any BAME employees) and inappropriate language goes unchallenged. Social activities revolve around heavy drinking sessions and management frequently come to work hungover. No sick pay.

Thank you for your comments. It is good to note that you feel the management team are a visible presence within the business, something we try hard to do. I try to ensure that all our employees share in the success of CLS. We keep everyone up to date at our monthly company meetings at which we recognise and reward our employees for their contribution to our success. I would like to address some of the other points listed in the review: 1. Crystal Legal Services salaries are benchmarked against our competitors within the area and we pay above the NMW for all roles within the business. 2. The recruitment process is fair and we have a diverse workforce of all ages ranging from 18 to 56+ and the mix of employees is available for everyone to see via our HR system. 3. We have robust policies and procedures in place in how we manage and protect our customer information. It’s our policy to treat all of our customers and employees in a respectfully. Any member of the team found not to be adhering to any of the policies are dealt with appropriately. 4. CLS does not discriminate and we are very proud of the quality and diversity of our workforce. 5. CLS has procedures in place to deal with any comments brought to our attention that are deemed to be inappropriate and the Company has a grievance procedure in place should any of our employee’s feel they need to address any issues in a formal capacity. 6. We celebrate success with two major social events in a year; our summer social and our Xmas/Annual Awards event, which are well attended and do involve alcohol. We often have fun-based activities running throughout the work day; including dress down days, Halloween days, Christmas Jumper days, quiz days - these do not include any alcoholic drinks. Our charity committee organises other events as well as being a registered call centre for taking donations for Comic Relief and Spots relief. 7. I would be naïve to state that no employees have ever attended work hung over (we employ humans, after all) and I am sure no company would make that claim but if they have they are a very rare occurrence. 8. It is correct we do not pay Company sick pay to our employees instead we invest this money into a funded health scheme for our employees to actively encourage and assist them in addressing health issues and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I would encourage you to speak to our HR department or myself directly on any concerns or feedback you may have. All comments will be treated in absolute confidence. Thank you Tony Shields, CEO
