Pros

Some of the employees at Crate and Barrel are interesting and fun--outside of work. Also, interacting with different customers.

Cons

The downside of Crate and Barrel is the managerial staff (Palo Alto, CA). The managerial staff does not want its staff to interact with each other. Instead Managers want the store associates to continually bother customers even after they have been asked for help. It is quite evident they are only numbers based. However, that is not their biggest downside, which is there poor attitudes. The Managers in the Standford Store have their favorites and rarely care for others. They talk down to the staff in front of customers with no regard to dignity or respect. Unfortunately, change will never come. Crate and Barrel HQ is satisfied with the sales figures from this store. Yet, the figures are a result of a great location (extremely wealthy neighborhood) and not so much how its run. All in all, current workers only talk about how fun it use to be and not how it is today.

Pros

If in the right department, hours used to be pretty decent compared to industry standards. Cool products to work with Nice People/Staff generally speaking

Cons

Salary is way below market standards Benefits are poor(no 401k, profit sharing is close to non existent, high copays) Flex time and remote work is extremely hard to impossible to get In the last few years, working hours have increased exponentially, openings were scarce All good talents usually leave within the first couple years. Turn over is high amongst them.
